I've used YIM (and AIM) for quite a while now, and I've never really had a problem with it until recently. A few weeks ago, I started getting messages from someone I didn't recognize. Which is fine, by the way. I am all about chatting with people. This, however, was different. This was someone who was trying to convince me that Islam was the way. Now, I am not above conversing about the benefits or shortcomings of whatever religion, but whoever this was seemed to have a hard time staying on topic, launching into completely random messages every other minute. I got the distinct impression that this was someone who didn't have a very good grasp of the language at all, and I was getting annoyed by him, so I banned him. End of story, right? Wrong-o! Today I got one from someone with a remarkably similar screen name who said, "Mullet with headlights?". Dunno what that's supposed to mean, but looks like he's back.
Anyone else get wierd random IMs from complete strangers? Or am I just super-special?
EDIT: Just to be clear, I don't mind people IMing me at all! Feel free, and if you make the cut, we'll talk!
EDIT NUMERO 2: Apparently, I've been talking to what is called a fishbot, of the salmon variety. Knowledge is power!
Oh, and its lymtnwmn on AIM if anyone cares to chat.

Blech!
It's actually a tee shirt too, along with "That angel guy just felt me up!"
The random IM's I get from MSN are either spam or porn. It almost souonds like you weren't actually talking to a person but some automated system, though why anyone would do that is beyond me.
Shockwave77598 on AIM and YIM btw

It was a salmonbot!
My ignorance amazes even me sometimes!
*bows to the master*
i got similar messages like those too, and a couple of days later i got following requests on twitter with similar screen names as those on AIM. i just blocked them and that was it, but later i found out that the twitter profiles of these people were banned and removed apparently for reported abuse. so i guess you're not the only one.
hope you don't mind if i add you as a friend. see ya!
